ROOT RIVER
VALLEY QUILTER'S RETREAT
February 8th through February 10th, 2008
Please contact Susan at: millgirl@ix.netcom.com , for more information.
This well-established retreat began in 1991. The current location for the retreat is the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center located near Lanesboro, Minnesota. This facility is perched high atop the hills of Southern Minnesota overlooking the Root River valley. It is used primarily for school children who come to learn about the environment. The sewing area is large and well lighted. The view is breathtaking, and we sometimes have a fire in the large fieldstone fireplace in the evenings while we sew. Dorm rooms are located a few steps from the sewing area and are wonderfully clean. Four ladies share a dorm room complete with four beds (all lower bunks), one shower, a double sink, stool, and locker area. Meals are in an adjacent building and are cafeteria style.
One class geared for beginner and up is scheduled each year. We have found from experience that students want easy projects and lots of time to finish it. If you wish to bring your own project to work on, you may.
Sunday morning is show and tell, with participants showing what they have been working on all weekend and finished projects from previous retreats.
This year's project is called "Dancing Circles".
Its measurements are 81" x 96".

The cost of the retreat is $160.00, which covers two nights lodging, Friday night dinner, three meals on Saturday, two meals on Sunday, quilting class information and instruction, and an outdoor environmental class taught by the staff of Eagle Bluff. (Past classes have been a birding hike and snowshoeing adventure). The environmental classes are optional.
